This is great for all if us who love duper heroes! A great follow up for readers who likes Melvin Beedermann. Maybe even those who like Captain Underpants. Give it a try!

I went searching today for books for a student who loved "Out of My Mind" and "Rules" - something that has characters with challenges or something do evils about them. Although I'm familiar with author Tony Abbott, this is totally different than what he usually writes. This story is told by Tom, a shy and insecure 5th grade boy. The story takes place over the 3 weeks that Jessica is part of his class - Jessica, who has suffered severe burns over her entire body, who hardly talks to anyone, who scares the other kids. Although this novel starts way too slow, it's worth it to keep reading. The story is touching and a good one.
This series is sure to be a hit! Great for high 2nd-4th graders, probably even some 5th. The Greek gods and goddesses are alive and well at Mount Olympus Academy. You will enjoy their adventures as classmates- and maybe want to check out their myths too!
The Lincoln's Photobiography is a very detailed look at the life of both Abraham and Mary Lincoln. If you love history and nonfiction, give this a try!
This is intense. It deals with the issue of a family being in the United Stares illegally. They live in fear of being discovered, even though they have been here many years. The father gets detained as an illegal alien and the daughters are left to cope on their own and to try and help him.
Thank you Emma! This was a great recommendation. Just like you said, it's a book you can't stop reading! I read the entire book in one night! I lived it that you couldn't figure out what the bad guy really wanted until the very very end. Great suspense!
Ghetto Cowboy is another Bluebonnet book for next year. It's a hard one to put down, but I always did like horse stories. This book will expose you to a world very different from the neighborhoods we live in. Cole has messed up one too many times and his mama has driven him to Philadelphia to live with the dad he never met. It's a rough rough neighborhood, and his dad raises horses there! The language and living are rough and tough - but there's love there too. Based on a true place. This one is more for 4th and 5th graders.
If you loved "Origami Yoda", "Wimpy Kid", or "Big Nate", then you will enjoy this new series too. Strange beings are created in the closet - and the fun begins.
Do you enjoy trivia? Presidential Pets is a fun look at the strange variety of pets who have lived in the White House. Can you imagine gators in the bathtub?
The book also includes some of the key accomplishments of each president, as well as basic facts. Loved this! Laugh With the Moon is a Bluebonnet nominee for next school year. It tells the story of Clare who has travelled to Malawi Africa with her dad, a doctor. She arrives a typical American teenager - missing her friends, worried about her clothes and hair, mad at her dad. Through new friendships in the village, Clare learns about the culture and herself. There are lots of funny parts and sad parts too - that's part of the story too. I really liked this one - I think we will try to get the author to visit our school next year.
This is a new mystery series by author Sharon Draper. The main characters are four teenage boys from Cincinnati. I love the Jamaican accent as well as their different personalities. This was a quick and fun adventure centered around the Underground Railroad. I think 2nd-4th graders will enjoy this series.
