Sorry I haven't posted lately. I took a break from kid lit to read a fabulous adult novel, State of Wonder by Ann Patchett.
Back to kid's books...
I just finished this one - loved, loved, loved it. A fun read, but very sensitive too. A perfect example of our habit "seek first to understand, then to be understood". Edgar starts out selfishly trying to solve the mystery of the missing goldfish in his class, but along the way he discovers secrets about classmates and teachers. Instead of using these secrets against them, he uses his gift for poetry to make them feel better and makes new friends in the process. Read this one!
I've also discovered a fun author that I'm thrilled to announce will be visiting my school in April. Jeff Mack writes and illustrates chapter books like
And three picture books that are on our Texas 2x2 award list this year...
Can't wait to meet Jeff Mack and introduce the students to more of his humorous books. He is a master at telling a story in few words!
