Oops! Can't figure out why this one is sideways- but read it anyway! This is what I fondly call "chick lit" - or "girl drama". Allie and her best friend are starting middle school. They only have one class together and they are worried about fitting in. As the two girls go separate ways, Allie learns a lot about herself and true friendship. I read this one quickly in two days - I can't wait to see what else this author has written. I hope there's more!
I have been reading many books about World War II and that time period, both for adults and children. This is a touching story about friendship and discrimination.
Sammy Keyes is a detective with spunk! She doesn't always follow the rules, but she is resourceful and tenacious. Although this book started a little slow and I almost gave up on it, I really enjoyed the second half of it.
Fairy tale meets chapter book! You too will fall in love with Marigold and root for her and Christian as they try to outwit the evil queen.
I will admit, I picked this book up several times and put it back down without reading it. I just wasn't into a time travel, historical French book about the 3 Musketeers. But I'm so glad I finally opened it and tried it - this book is so much more! It is a great, fun adventure that you won't want to stop reading!
Fantasy- if you like the ideas of swords, evil villains, trolls, ghosts, and fairylike fey.... Check out this quick fantasy by R.L. LaFevers. Kenric's father, the blacksmith, has disappeared and Kenric sets out to find him...or more likely, rescue him. The adventure isuzu more than he anticipated.
This was great fun! It's been on our shelves for a few years, but I just discovered it. Might need to read the sequels to find out what happens to Zack, Ethan and the crazy aliens. A good read if you enjoyed "Aliens on Vacation" for Bluebonnets!
