I've spent most of the summer reading, reading, reading... In fact I have a huge box next to my bed that I am slowly making my way through.
Here's a list of what I've read so far:
How They Croaked: The Awful Ends of the Awfully Famous by Georgia Bragg - a gross, yet utterly fascinating glimpse into deaths of famous people such as King Tug, Cleopatra, Christopher Columbus, Mozart, and George Washington.
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang by Ian Fleming - a classic, good fun story. I read this to get ready to read the new one - Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Flies Again by Frank Cottrell Boyce. I only remember watching the movie, so I really enjoyed the book.
Aliens on Vacation by Clete Barrett Smith - you have to read it to believe it! This is on the Bluebonnet and 4th grade Battle list this year.
Captain Nobody by Dean Pritchford - I dare you to read the prologue & not keep reading! Really! (another Battle book)
The Name of this Book is Secret by Pseudonymous bosch - This was totally unexpected! If you like to be surprised, and like something a little weird and strange - try this one!
Misty Gordon and the Mystery of the Ghost Pirates by Kim Kennedy - another Bluebonnet/Battle book. Pirates! Ghosts! Candy! Greek Gods! Insane crossing guards! and an old ice cream truck that romas the town picking up items from dead person's homes... What's not to like!
Night of the Howling Dogs by Graham Salisbury - nonstop adventure & action!!! based on a true story. (Battle book)
The Magic Half by Annie Barrows - would you like to have a mysterious, magic twin?
The 100-Year-Old Secret by Tracy Barrett The Flight of the Phoenix: Nathaniel Fludd Beastologist, #1 by R.L. LaFevers - any guesses what a beastologist is? Read and find out!Ruby Redfort Look Into My Eyes by Lauren Child - if you like spies, don't be afraid to try this big, long book - it's worth it!
Lunch Lady and the Mutant Mathletes by Jarrett J. Krosoczka
Kindred Souls by Patricia MacLachlan
The Shark King by R. Kikuo Johnson
The Sisters 8: Annie's Adventures by Lauren Baratz-Logsted
Oh Boy, Mallory by Laurie B. Friedman -
Phantom of the Post Office by Kate Klise - I couldn't wait to read this! You will enjoy it.
The Buddy Files: The Case of the School Ghost (book 6) by Dori Hillestad Butler
Defiance by Valerie Hobbs
What I'm reading right now:
Happy Kid! by Gail Gauthier - It's like a Wimpy Kid but without all the cartoons.
What I'm looking forward to reading next:
Wonder by R.J. Palacio
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate
The Limit by Kristen Landon
Capture the Flag by Kate Messner
