Jarrett Krosoczka, author of the Lunch Lady series, has done it again! Humor once again reigns supreme! This lengthy chapter book will challenge some readers who limit themselves to comics and shorter books, but the laughter and fun drawings will keep them entertained the whole way. And there will definitely be a series in this one.
Who doesn't love crime fighting platypuses?
And yes, I still live my comics. Odd Duck is a fun story of an unlikely friendship between 2 odd ducks, neither of which realizes how odd they are. Thankfully they look beyond appearances and find the many things they have in common.
This one isn't actually new, but I just discovered it this summer while reading trickster tales to the first graders at summer school. I live Gerald McDermott's colorful illustrations. This too is a story of friendship between unlikely characters - a tortoise and the birds. The jealous vulture almost ruins it, but Jabuti and his friends make the best of it in the end.
And one more story about being unique and believing in yourself. Papa is an inventor, even if most of his inventions don't work perfectly. This is a great story about Beginning with the End in Mind and synergy zing, as Papa's family provides him ideas to modify and perfect his mechanical fish. Truly delightful!
